Checking your COM Port Settings

Note: These settings refer to the HP iPaq 212 set up. COM ports on other devices may differ.

  1. On the 'Today' screen, Tap 'Start' and then 'Settings'.
  2. The 'Settings' screen is displayed. Tap the 'System' tab.

  1. Tap the 'External GPS' icon.
  2. The ' GPS Settings' screen is then displayed. On the 'Programs' tab, check that the 'GPS program port' displays 'COM8'. Then tap the 'Hardware' tab.

  1. On the 'Hardware' tab, check that the 'GPS hardware port' displays 'COM6' and the 'Baud rate' is set to '9600'. Then tap the 'Access' tab.
  2. On the 'Access' tab, check that 'Manage GPS automatically' tick-box.
